Truer will be auctioned in the SLIDELUCK Auction & Fundraiser on Dec. 8, in New York City.

RECOGNITION
The series received honorable mention in Magenta Flash Forward 2010 and for CENTER Project Competition 2010. The series was awarded in American Photography 25 and on ARTslant. It has been exhibited at Sasha Wolf Gallery, Umbrella Arts Gallery and in Slideshows at Aperture Gallery and Kopeikin gallery.

STATEMENT
Truer is an autobiographical series that explores the heightened, fragile and often temporal nature of love. The work renders visible social expectations of romantic narratives–as heterosexual and gender conforming. Shot over a tumultuous seven month period, the series is raw, intimate and genuine in it's approach. The centrality of female desire is a prominent theme within the work. In this way and others, Truer departs from conventional depictions of female bodies and sexuality in western art.
