The media prescribes and presents to us a lifestyle, which parents and their children, in turn, aspire to achieve. It is felt that attaining these beauty and talent ideals will lead to fulfillment. Competitive parenting, a notion recently identified within academic discourse demonstrates how parents set themselves and their children impossible goals, putting their children through extensive and excessive training and competitions to obtain media exposure.
