I was invited to see a local school by the headmaster who was keen to show me the schools achievements.
I really liked the retro feel. In much of Haiti, time seems to have stood still.
The small room was crammed and resonated with the hypnotic beat of the ceremonial drum and became infused with the smell of the home-made alcohol.

Haiti isn’t only about voodoo, though. It has so much more to offer.
Alongside the voodoo, there is a lot of Christianity. Haiti also features a lot of what we’d call ‘traditional Caribbean life’. Not everyone follows voodoo, although it is an integral part of Haiti’s history.
There are many ex-colonial towns in Haiti which have beautiful architecture. They’ve been through so many ownerships in their history.
The once vibrant tourist beaches of Haiti are now almost deserted.
