African Art inspires me. What I wanted to achieve is to build a large series of two-dimensional sculptures based on classical African Art that would have the same strong presence I find in some wooden statues and masks. Besides this I felt the need to reveal the slightly musty aura that African Art has these days and wanted to place it within a contemporary frame.
