PASSION
Overall I thought the standard of work was very varied but generally good. Some sets were clearly shot by less experienced photographers where others were obviously professional.
In the selections there was lots of creativity but in lots of images, creativity complicated and confused the finished image.
Some photographers had thought outside the box which is great but very few managed to keep consistency within their set of images.
Originality was either very high or very low . In a competition like this, or for any commission the audience/client needs to be inspired and attracted by something new, innovative and captivating.

Singles:
I chose Diane Patrice as my winner because everything about this image is perfect. It is simple yet powerful. The character model is old yet is beaming with personality and a passion for life. The styling, lighting and setting are also simplistic yet perfectly in tune with each other!
This image to me perfectly captures this elderly black man standing proud and full of energy, passion and youth.
The way this shot is framed is again simple but effective it would not look out of place in any magazine or framed. Well done.

Series:
My series winner by Phil Mucci was instantly striking and consistently creative, powerful and original. The style is bold and youthful portraying a passionate mood within the set. The styling is very current and flows throughout the set and the amazing digital work has helped create fantasticly balanced imagery. As an Ecko campaign this would sit well in any magazine or billboard. I would love to work with this photographer as his attention to detail is clearly outstanding!
