competition entry rules

JUDGING
Entries will be judged by a high profile judging panel chaired by Kevin O’Connor, Chairman of London Photographic Association.

THE RULES
1. Entrants
(i) Entries will be accepted from both UK and Non UK - overseas photographers
(ii) Entrants may enter as many pictures as they wish but London Photographic Association is not required to use all or any entries which have been submitted particularly if they are deemed to be technically inept, salacious or blatantly pornographic.
(iii) Entrants must complete the Entry form and pay the required entrance fee before any entries can be considered.
(iv) Images may only be submitted electronically, using the London Photographic Association web site at www.london-photographic-association.com
(v) Entrants must be at least 18 years of age.
(vi) Entrants must provide London Photographic Association with a live and continuing email address to which notifications can be sent and Entrants consent to their address being passed on to others directly associated with the awards solely for the purposes of the London Photographic Association.

2.The Photographs
(i) The cost of entering the competitions is clearly marked on the ‘competition entry’ page
(ii) Entries can be either black and white or colour.
(iii) The origination can be produced using digital or analogue systems.
(iv) Retouching /manipulation of images is accepted provided that all works are original works and not copies of other people’s works.
(v) Entrants who are selected by London Photographic Association to become Finalists may be asked to provide a 20 x 16 inch exhibition quality print or a high resolution file free of charge for use in exhibition[s] organised by the LPA.
(vi)All Prints will be returned providing the appropriate packaging, courier charge or postage has been supplied.

3. Warranties
By entering the competition, entrants:
(i) warrant to the London Photographic Association that they have created and own the work submitted (including all elements of the work) and that nothing within any work has been copied or added from another person’s work;
(ii) warrant that the whole copyright and any other form of intellectual property right in the work is vested in them;
(iii) warrant that they have not in any way assigned, licensed, disposed of, or otherwise encumbered any of their rights which allow them to deal freely with the work and the copyright in that work;
(iv) warrant that they have obtained model releases from any persons featured in their submitted photographs allowing publication and use of the works as contemplated by these entry rules and conditions.
(v) grant licence to London Photographic Association and agree that their work may be exhibited at venues organised by and for the purpose of the London Photographic Awards as well as through the London Photographic Association website.
(vi) agree that the London Photographic Association may display entries featured in the London Photographic Awards exhibitions and website to promote the works of Entrants to the London Photographic Association and for education and reference purposes connected with the London Photographic Association.
(vii) acknowledge that London Photographic Association relies fully upon the warranties and licence given by Entrants when submitting their entries.
(viii) agree that in consideration of London Photographic Association including works submitted by Entrants in the London Photographic Association, Entrants indemnify and hold the London Photographic Association harmless from any claims, actions, proceedings costs and expenses arising as a result of any allegation that the relevant Entrant did not own or is not wholly entitled and authorised to allow publication and reproduction of the work by the London Photographic Association.

4. The decision of London Photographic Association on who should become finalists is final and no discussion or correspondence can be entered into on their decision.

5. The London Photographic Association, other sponsors or any of the venues showing the exhibition shall not be liable for any loss of, or damage to, any of the entries and Entrants shall not object to any cropping or other minor alteration of the works for the purpose of including them in any exhibition nor to any minor adaptation or treatment of the works by the London Photographic Association or other licensed user for the purpose of creating publicity materials for the awards.

6. Final Deadline.
(i) Entries must be received by the London Photographic Association's web host no later than midnight on the given deadline irrespective of the time of sending.
(ii) London PhotographicAssociation will send notification of success to Entrants who are selected to become finalists by email.
