The images which won Lisa Kortenhorst silver in the series category of Let’s Face It: 5 was taken in Pinyao , China when Lisa was traveling there in 2007. She explains: “I was walking around and came across this wall in a little backstreet. The thing that intrigued me was all the different layers, the clear signs of the result of time passing. I thought "if these walls could talk". They must have amazing stories!

Lisa has been working as a freelancer since graduating in 2004 from the Amsterdam Photography Academy. She currently has several exhibitions running, and is opening a gallery in Berlin at the end of April (www.milkyjoes.de). Lisa champions competitions like Let’s Face It: 5. “Getting your images out there is one of the most important things for every photographer,” she feels.

For the past three years, Lisa has been working together with Dutch fashion designer Catta Donkersloot. “We have a very special chemistry, and every project we do together is immensely interesting and satisfying,” Lisa says. “Catta and I have an exhibition called (DE)CONSTRUCTING ME in gallery Unit 20 in which will open on the 3rd of April.”

Lisa has travelled extensively and describes her most interesting trip. “I volunteered as an English teacher at a Buddhist Monestary in Katmandu. I taught monks between the age of four and 14. This gave me some amazing photo opportunities: in general, traveling is always a very inspiring experience.”
