
Application guidelines
The Vito Montemurro for young contemporary art foundation in cooperation with Wannabee Gallery, presents the 2010 edition of Wannabee Prize, International Art Contest, a yearly international competition.
Artists can apply individually or through their gallery/agent to the preliminary selection.
The selection of the artworks will be made out by an International Jury composed of 18 experts (please refer to the attached list) who will select among the participants the 60 finalists. The Jury will proclaim the Wannabee Prize winner by majority.
Four special mentions will be assigned for each category of the contest: painting, photography, sculpture/installation and video art.
1 Criteria for admission
Artworks – paintings, sculptures/installations, photos and videos - can be submitted by artists or by agents/ gallery directors.
The Contest is open to all artists, without limitation of age, gender or nationality.
Entry contribution for secretarial, printing and exhibition expenses is 40 € (55 $) - for the first work - and 15 € (20$)- for any additional work.

Size limits for artworks are:
- maximum size for bi-dimensional works: cm 200 x cm 140 (width/ height). There is no limit to the media used.
- maximum size for sculptures and installations: each component must measure no more than cm 80x80x200 with a maximum weight of 50 kg
- maximum time length for videos: 5 minutes
Artists bound by a contract to the organizer will not be admitted.
2 Required documentation
Each candidate must send one package (or one e.mail) including all the following documents:
1. Registration form filled up and signed by the artist (if sent by e-mail, the registration form must be filled up, signed, scanned and sent with all the following documents)
2. a List of solo exhibitions – in English – listed in decreasing order from the most recent (with date, title, place, curator’s name, catalogue, if any)
b List of group exhibitions – in English – listed in decreasing order from the most recent (with date, title, place, curator’s name, catalogue, if any)
c Biography in English
3. A digital image of the artwork (jpeg format with a resolution of max 2000 pixel for length or height) or a video (mpeg format, low resolution and a maximum size of 2 Mb).
Artworks must be original, unpublished (i.e. never published in catalogues) or exhibited in shows or fairs.
Each file must be named with: artist's Christian name and surname, title, year, technique, dimensions length x height ( length x height x width in case of sculptures or installations).
4. Copy of receipt of payment of the entry contribution.
3 Delivery conditions
All the required documents must be:
- burned on a CD-Rom and sent by parcel mail to: Wannabee Gallery - Via Thaon De Revel 3, 20159 Milano, Italia (The artist’s name and “Wannabee Prize 2010” must be highlighted on the package)
or - attached and sent in a single e-mail message to: be@wannabee.it (the artist’s name and “Wannabee Prize 2010” must be written on the e-mail “object” field)
no later than June 15th, 2010
4 Admittance
Artists, gallery directors or agents will be responsible for checking the required documents before shipping.
Incomplete documentation will not be considered for selection and the entry contribution will be not returned.
Only the documentation listed under comma 2 (from 1 to 4) of these guidelines must be sent. Additional material will not be considered. Any paper or digital documentation will be not returned.
5 Contest deadlines
June 15th, 2010: contest admittance ends.
By July 10th, 2010: The Jury will select 60 finalists.
By July 15th, 2010: Wannabee Gallery will notify the results to finalists.
By July 30th, 2010: finalists will send the required additional photographic/video material (10 artwork pictures or 3 recent videos).
From September 1st to 10th of 2010: finalist artworks must be delivered to Wannabee Gallery in Milan.
By September 20th, 2010: The Jury will choose the Prize winner and will select the special mentions.
September 30th, 2010: opening of the 60 finalists' group exhibition in Milan and winner's award ceremony.
6 Jury
The jurors will choose the finalist artworks by majority. The decisions of the Jury are irrevocable.

7 Artwork delivery
By July 15th 2010, finalists will receive an official notification from Wannabee Prize 2010 and a disclaimer form.
The 60 Wannabee Prize selected artworks must arrive at Wannabee Gallery in Milan (via Thaon de Revel 3, 20159 Milan) no later than September 10th and no earlier than September 1st) together with:
- one CD-Rom containing the related artwork image (jpeg or tiff format, high resolution and minimum dimensions 3888x2592 pixel)
or
- a CD-Rom or DVD with the video artwork in PAL resolution (720/768x576 o 1024x576 pixel, avi, dvd or mpg)
- the disclaimer form filled up and signed.
Cash on delivery shipments will not be accepted by Wannabee Gallery. Each artist will be responsible for round-trip transportation and any insurance cost related to shipping.
Wannabee Gallery assures the greatest care and custody of artworks which will be covered by an “all risk insurance” for the time of the exhibition.
8 Awards
The 2010 Wannabee Prize reward consists of 5000 € (gross) and a solo exhibition with Wannabee Gallery. In case of additional sponsors, the organizer may decide to add additional prizes to the competition.
All the artworks will remain property of the artists.
The 60 finalist artworks will be exhibited in a group show in Wannabee Gallery Milan and, if requested, in other public or private international locations.
A catalogue in English and Italian will be produced, with images of all the 60 finalist artworks and biographies of the artists.
9 Award night
The winner will be announced on September 30th, 2010, during the group exhibition opening night.
10 Prize advertising and communication
Wannabee Gallery will advertise the Prize with the national and international press. Each artist authorizes Wannabee Gallery to reproduce images of his/her art work and texts for the catalogue, the archive, the on-line publication and any other form of communication. Wannabee Gallery is only bound to mention the author’s name.
11 Agreement
The participation in the Prize implies the knowledge and total acceptance of this document. The participant declares he/she has read this document and accepts it in all its content
