ABOUT WORK

“Valme de Toledo´s photographs are metaphors for loneliness. In her images we can see a lonely man, someone who wanders all alone, people who walks along a way that doesn´t seem to have an end. Her work plays a delicate music, something that could be heard as the trembling of the unavoidable”. (Antonio Lucas, El Mundo)

CAREER

Valme de Toledo seeks for lonelyness, loss or a place to rest, to be defined. She tries to make portraits of man in our society, with all the fears and doubts we all have. Her figures make us travel within ourselves, feel those lonely moments and listen to our deep thoughts. The background of her pictures is the result of drawing and melting different scenarios. Figure and background perfectly merge and make us contemplate an intimate world of solitude.
